About the Program
Emergency Support, Community Rebuilding, and Climate-Resilient Futures for the Taino Firefly Tribe of Jamaica
Hurricane Melissa devastated our ancestral lands in Hanover, Jamaica, causing severe damage to homes, farmland, infrastructure, and livelihoods. In response, the Yukayeke Yamaye Kokuio launched a coordinated, Indigenous-led disaster relief program focused on immediate support, long-term recovery, and culturally grounded climate adaptation.
Our approach goes beyond emergency aid, we are using this moment to rebuild stronger, safer, and in alignment with Taíno values, sustainable design principles, and community sovereignty.
Donate Towards Hurrican Relief
In October 2025, Hurricane Melissa devastated Jamaica, flooding villages, destroying homes, and displacing elders from ancestral Taíno lands. Our Indigenous community is working tirelessly to provide emergency food, water, shelter, and medicines, while planning long-term climate resilience rooted in Taíno knowledge. Every donation goes directly to families on the ground and goes towards helping rebuild homes, restore gardens, and protect our culture for future generations. Stand with us in turning tragedy into renewal. Donate today and be part of the light that guides our recovery.

Our Commitment
The Yukayeke Yamaye Kokuio is committed to protecting our people, land, culture, and future generations. Through this disaster relief program, we honour the resilience of our ancestors while forging new pathways of climate adaptation, sustainability, and Indigenous leadership.
