The Yukayeke Yamaye Kokuio - the Taíno Firefly Tribe of
Jamaica - is the tribal organization dedicated to the governance, revitalization, and advocacy of the Taino Kokuio Clan, whose traditional land is located in Hanover, Jamaica. Our mission is to preserve, revitalize, celebrate, and promote Taíno cultural heritage while fostering sustainable development, social empowerment, and human rights advocacy across Jamaica, the Caribbean, and the Diaspora.

Our Vision

We envision a future where the Taíno people are fully empowered to thrive with dignity, sovereignty, and cultural pride. By fostering resilience and unity, we work to ensure the survival and flourishing of our heritage for future generations.

Protecting and revitalizing Taíno traditions, spiritual practices, and Indigenous knowledge.

Providing resources, leadership, and advocacy for the self-determination, sovereignty and rights of the Kokuio people.

Establishing forums for cultural education, human rights awareness, and policy initiatives to safeguard Taíno heritage and traditions.

Providing sustainable, BIPOC-led community economic development and promoting environmental stewardship rooted in traditional ecological knowledge.

Strengthening connections between Taino communities and Indigenous groups worldwide to foster knowledge exchange and cultural preservation.
